Art is important to our survival. Our mission is to support the arts and artists of all disciplines. We support artists by creating opportunity for exposure to the public with an economic model that more fairly rewards artists than the average gallery.
Artists need to be able to make a living whilst making their art. To that end as we offer The Why Art House & Thinker Space where artists can come together, collaborate, co-create, display and sell their work.
The artists name their price, the Why gallery adds 20% plus state sales tax and credit card fees. Basically an 80/20 split to the artist benefit. Most galleries are a 50/50 split.
Artists may contact the gallery to get in the rotation for display of their work.
Camp Meade and The Why Art House & Thinker Space has been created to support the arts and artists in our society.
The many disciplines of art are powerful social and economic drivers in our communities. The Flynn Theater and Higher Ground are two local examples of art driven businesses that have positive economic and artistic benefits to our lives.
We need to support the arts and artists in every way just as our education and societal systems do for technology, sports, and other intellectual development.
We find ourselves at a moment in time, when we have polluted the air and the water and the very habitat that provides us sustenance and life. The artistic mind can help us to appreciate life more fully, and to look more deeply inward and outward, so that we may live in harmony with each other and all life. Great and beautiful works of art inspire us.
We don’t need more settings on the dishwasher, we don’t need more ways to kill each other, we already have the ability to obliterate our existence in a geological instant; We also have the technical and physical ability to feed everyone on the planet. Why don’t we?
Since the beginning of human time, we have been making art. We look for these traces to understand those makers and, ourselves. The arts bring us together and leave a record of our development
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to what we now know and understand, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.” Albert Einstein who also played the violin.
It is imperative that we care for and nurture planet earth and not pollute the very planet that provides us with life and sustenance.
Art can communicate complex ideas and emotions simply and powerfully perspective.
Humor is an art form, laughter is the best medicine.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them” Albert Einstein
Or in another way “Well, here’s another nice mess you have gotten me into” Laurel and Hardy
Lets’ make Art.
